In their final concert of Spring 2016, Pacific Jazz Ensemble will perform with guest artist Lewis Nash. Regarded as a master of his craft, Nash has performed with leading jazz artists such as Sonny Rollins, Milt Jackson, Tommy Flanagan, and more while having a discography that includes over 300 recordings! He is renowned as both an educator and performer, to find out more about Lewis Nash visit www.lewisnash.com About Pacific Jazz Ensemble The Pacific Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Patrick Langham, is a big band in the tradition of Count Basie and Duke Ellington. As such, they perform literature ranging from jazz standards to contemporary big band music. Pacific Jazz Ensemble provides students with the opportunity to perform alongside artists currently making it in the contemporary jazz scene. Guest artists collaborate with Jazz Ensemble throughout the semester by performing alongside the group, working with them on guest?s own compositions, and giving ensemble members practical advice on how to succeed as musicians. Membership in Pacific Jazz Ensemble is audition-only and open to all majors with auditions occurring at the beginning of each academic year.
