Pacific Opera Theatre, accompanied by the University Symphony Orchestra, will be staging Jacques Offenbach?s opera La Vie Parisienne. This humorous and popular opera in four acts is a depiction of life in Paris during the mid-1800s. La Vie Parisienne features the stage direction of James Haffner and the musical coaching of Burr Cochran-Phillips with Dr. Nicolas Waldvogel conducting the orchestra. Offenbach?s blending of lively music and spoken dialogue makes this production an accessible event that?s sure to delight audiences. About Pacific Opera Theatre: Pacific Opera Theatre is responsible for the coordination of the Conservatory?s opera productions. Throughout the year students involved with the opera receive vocal coaching, rehearse together as a cast and ensemble, and workshop the acting elements that go into an opera performance. Pacific Opera Theatre is directed by James Haffner with musical coaching from Burr Cochran-Phillips. About the University Symphony Orchestra: The University Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Nicolas Waldvogel, is the major ensemble for Conservatory string-players and an audition-only group for wind, brass, and percussion students that is open to all majors. They perform a wide range of music from early orchestral works to contemporary pieces.
